This is a turning and tilting foot for the Bang & Olufsen high end television Beovision 9. A requirement was the construction of a mechanism above the existing revolving base, a mechanism which, by the operation of the Beo 4 remote control, tilts the set in order to enable the user to view the screen at any time from the optimum angle, regardless of seating height. It was decided to construct a mechanism which is invisible from a normal viewing angle; this creates a visual effect by suspending the set, thus making it movable without any immediately visible support. In the developing process, technical considerations such as e.g. overcoming inertia, functional limits and the properties and patterns of movement of various mechanisms fuse into the design of the product. The chosen solution is a mechanism constructed as a 4-bar linkage turning the screen around its centre of gravity, thus creating a noiseless mechanism, which was an ultimate demand from Bang & Olufsen.
